How to find millions of local business leads with Openmart

+ a free guide!

Welcome to a 🔒 subscriber-only edition 🔒 of my weekly newsletter. Each week I show you a powerful way to use new integrations within Clay for your GTM motion.

Premium subscribers get access to my library of Clay templates and tutorials.

Before I dive in, I just wanted to give a few life updates:

  • taught AI + GTM Engineering Bootcamps in SF and NYC for ~50 people

  • hosted a webinar with Zapier on vibe-coding for 600 people

  • launched a video where I drove a Ferrari and flew a hot air balloon

  • made a video showing how to find gifts with Clay

I am feeling the energy in the GTM Engineering community!

GTM Engineering Bootcamp at Clay HQ in NYC!

Now, let’s dive into this week’s integration — Openmart!

Integration of the Week: Openmart

What it does:

  • Find local businesses by category, city, or zip code

  • Build lists of SMBs with names, addresses, and categories

Why it’s useful:

  • Generate outbound prospecting lists without manual searching

  • Power campaigns, partnerships, or events by targeting local businesses

The Demo

Here’s a quick demo on how to use this integration within Clay.

Thinking Like a GTM Engineer

Ok, here’s the fun part.

Imagine you’re a GTM Engineer at La Marzocco, the coffee machine maker.

cafe bella!

Your goal is to sell to local coffee shops that get bad reviews for selling terrible coffee.

Why?

If these cafes used better espresso machines, they would be getting better reviews.

So, instead of just pulling a list of cafes from OpenMart and calling it a day, I will to show you how to stack integrations and AI to create a wedge and dominate the LA coffee scene using Clay.

Step 1: Search with OpenMart

Start by pulling in coffee shops in Los Angeles. Now, you’ve got a clean list of businesses + addresses to target.

Step 2: Get Google Reviews

Layer in another integration to pull in a company's Google business reviews.

Step 3: AI Magic

We’ll use ChatGPT to analyze all the reviews to check if there are any mentions of “bad coffee”. If we find a negative review, we’ll extract the following:

  • the review snippet

  • the date of the review

Step 3: Screenshots and MORE AI Magic

We’ll use Clay to take a screenshot of the negative review to include in our outreach.

Step 4: Finding SMB Contacts with Claygent

Let’s use Claygent to find contacts at local SMB businesses. With this, we can find and verify their Name, Title, LinkedIn, and Email Address. For extra horsepower, we can use the Find Email Waterfall to increase our fill rates.

Step 5: Create the Outbound Campaign with AI

We can use AI to create personalized messages using the data we’ve generated in minutes like this:

This is how to draft messages in Clay using AI and custom variables

Here’s an example of a personalized message using this quick, simple prompt:

Notice the custom variables sprinkled throughout - groovy!

Bonus: Spice the Offer

A personalized email isn’t enough. We need a great offer.

What if we pulled in their Instagram data and offered to include a mini photoshoot to improve their photo when they purchase of our espresso machine?

Our machines cost $4,500 - $30,000

A mini-shoot would cost us ~$500

Who wouldn’t want that?

Fun fact: Airbnb did something like this in their early days.
